Spencer Dock Site Gets Ministerial Visit Spencer Dock Site gets Ministerial Visit

The chairman of Spencer Dock International Conference Centre Ltd (SDICC), Dermod Dwyer, welcomed the visit of the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism, John O'Donoghue, to the proposed site of the National Conference Centre on 18 October last. The site visit follows the SDICC appointment as the designated Preferred Tenderer for the Public/Private Partnership to design, build, finance and operate the National Conference Centre at Spencer Dock. Currently the SDICC team is fully engaged with the Office of Public Works and their professional advisors finalising contractual matters.

Both parties anticipate that this phase will be completed within the next number of weeks after which, it is understood, a final Government decision will be required. Assuming receipt of a positive decision, SDICC will shortly thereafter commence site enabling and related works to prepare for the construction of the long awaited National Conference Centre. The extensive international marketing campaign for Dublin's NCC would commence at the same time. The project team includes Kevin Roche, the architect, the NEC group as designated managers, the building contractors CMP/Sisk and the Spencer Dock Development Company, led by Treasury Holdings. The PPP project requires the successful tenderer both to provide the site and to design, build, finance and operate Irelands National Conference Centre for 25 years. Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism, John O'Donoghue, with the Chairman/Chief Executive officer of Spencer Dock international Convention Centre Ltd, Dermod Dwyer, to mark the appointment of the SDICC as the Preferred Tenderer for the provision of the National Conference Centre in Spencer Dock.
