Treasury Holdingshas commenced work on its Alto Vetro development in Dublin's docklands. Scheduled for completion in January 2008, it will be Ireland's first block of homes with elevations entirely from glass. The €21m Alto Vetro project will encompass a 16-storey glazed residential tower in the heart of Dublin city. Situated on the corner of Pearse Street and Grand Canal Quay, the site is centrally located, directly adjacent to the bridge over Grand Canal dock.The development will comprise 26 apartments with cantilevered balconies and triple aspect views overlooking the water. Two apartments will occupy each floor, arranged around a single core on the lower levels with two duplexes on the two uppermost levels. Each apartment will have floor-to-ceiling windows. The roof will feature a roof garden protected by a two metre high glass balustrade.
Owned by Treasury Holdings and designed by Shay Cleary architects, the Alto Vetro tower is being transformed from the two-storey domestic building which previously occupied the site.
